The short answer
We charge $149 for an In-Home Pricing Visit because it's real work: an on-site walkthrough, measurements, a look at the room's condition and layout, and a detailed price and timeline for your bathroom. The fee is fully credited toward your remodel if you move forward with Treat Builds, so if you hire us, it costs you nothing.
Why "free estimates" often cost you more
Most contractors offer free estimates. The catch is that a free estimate has to be fast. Someone glances at the room, quotes a number, and moves on to the next appointment. The number is either padded to cover unknowns or low enough to win the job, with the difference showing up later as change orders.
Neither helps you plan. You end up comparing guesses, not prices.
What the In-Home Pricing Visit includes
An In-Home Pricing Visit answers one question: what will your project actually cost? During the visit, we:
Walk through and measure your existing bathroom
Talk through your goals, layout ideas, and constraints
Look for structural, plumbing, or space limitations that would change the plan
Give you a detailed price for your bathroom
Set realistic timeline expectations
You leave with numbers grounded in your actual bathroom, not a ballpark from a website.
Why it saves you money
It catches expensive surprises before they're surprises. A subfloor soft around the toilet, a drain that can't move where you want it, or wiring that needs updating are much cheaper to plan for than to discover mid-demo.
It keeps the design inside your budget. If you want a curbless shower or a relocated vanity, you'll know what that adds before you fall in love with a design you can't afford. Layout changes alone typically add $2,000–$6,000 or more.
It stops you from overbuilding. Sometimes the right answer is a smaller change, like a narrower vanity or a pocket door, that solves the problem without moving plumbing.
It's credited back. The $149 comes off your project total if you move forward with us.
Who it's for
The In-Home Pricing Visit is best if you're seriously planning a remodel in the next few months and want grounded numbers before moving into design.
If you're earlier than that and just want to sanity-check an idea, start with our free 30-minute planning call instead. We'll talk through your bathroom, your goals, and a rough budget direction by phone.
What happens after
If the project makes sense, the next step is selections and a detailed written scope, then a fixed-price contract so your total is set before work starts. If it doesn't make sense right now, you still have a realistic budget and a list of what your bathroom needs, which is useful no matter who you hire.
